Joan P. S. Charleton

Joan was born in London, and studied at the Croydon School of Art. For a period of time she worked as an animator on film cartoons for Anson Dyer (London). She was much sought after by large advertising companies especially in the fashion industry. Joan was commissioned by publishing houses such as Macmillan's, Batsfords, Nicholas Kaye and others, to work on book and jacket illustrations and she produced many childrens' books.
For a number of years she worked as a professional illustrator for the British Ministry of Defence. She was also commissioned by the London Evening News for a series of strip cartoons and other press assignments.
Joan Charleton's artwork has been exhibited in the United Kingdom, France, U.S.A and many countries worldwide. She particularly excels as a portrait artist, and she is pleased to receive commissions.
